Mustang Coolant Tube Push and Pull Flow?

I have the mustang coolant tubes like on Viperwolf's picture here:

Which one of those metal coolant tubes is "pushing" the coolant into the heater core?

I want to make sure I connect the push tube to the BC AC bulkhead that I have the heater shutoff valve on so it shuts off the flow before it gets to the heater core.

And the Vintage Air shutoff valve has a specific flow orientation I want to get right.

The line routed to the intake manifold pushes the water (and should be the one with the shut off valve)
The line running to the water pump pulls the water.

The bigger tube on the bottom is the hot/pressure side. Flow is from the intake manifold to the pump.

That said, I actually have the shutoff valve in the return side because of a short shutoff cable. Stock heater setup. No difference in how it works though and I don't have constant heat.

Are you using the bulkhead in the center of the firewall that comes with the A/C kit? I found one hose that can be cut in half and used for both tube to bulkhead connections. Figured I'd mention it since others have already answered your original question.

Thanks for the help guys.

mattt: I am using that bulkhead and found your old post about getting the flow correct, but I couldn't make it fit to my liking the way you had it so I want to make sure I plumb it correctly on the engine bay side.

Here's mine:

Which hose are you referring to? A stock part from an auto parts store? I bought the efi coolant kit from BC, but I haven't gotten to the engine side yet to see if it will fit.

The shut off valve definitely works better on top hose how you have yours plumbed inside. You will have to see how the lines need to lay out on the engine bay side to get the flow correct. On mine(with 95 5.0 tubes), I would have had to cross lines top to bottom on the engine bay side....that is why I opted to put the valve on the bottom line inside. If I ever do it over, I will probably move the shut off valve to the engine bay.

The hose I was referencing is for the engine bay lines. I found 1 hose that when cut in half worked for both engine bay lines. It has 2 90*s and I cut it in the middle to make 2 individual 90 hoses. It was $6 if I remember correctly. If you need the #, I'll look for it later. Good luck.

Do most people have success with the 45 degree connections on the engine side? It seems like 90s would work much better than what I'm looking at. The lower coolant tube connection on the bulkhead is kind of jammed in between the fuel rail and EFI harness.

Should I get the 90s or is there a way to make these 45s work?

No way to make the 45* work with coolant tubes and EFI. I tried as well then contacted BC...they swapped the 45's for 90's. Jason said they were going to have 2 kits available at time of purchase depending on your application....one with 45's and one with 90's. I bought my kit 3+ years ago when they all came with 2 90's & 2 45's.
