I saw you out at KOH, wish I would have known you had installed this system. Before I went out there I was seriously talking to the wife about getting the same system. Mine smells horribly at idle and will not idle in neutral even until pretty warm due to the big cam. After hearing your small issues and me having 2 fuel cells making plumbing a pain, not to mention I drove all the way out Boone road on the east side through those whoops around 30-40 mph and my demon didn't even stumble one time, it's hard to justify the money and give up simplicity. but I would like the ease of driveability for the wife. Even when I'm warmed up, yiubstill drive with both feet.

We can meet up at Cars and Coffee one Saturday and you can check it out. When we saw you we were in a big hurry, probably out of beer or something....

Are you controlling timing? Also i've learned that if you want the full potential it is best to get it tuned by someone who has some experience or a professional. Even though it is a self learning efi, a lot of things are not being set correctly. I have the Holley Terminator. Love the system but it would be nice to get it tuned professionally.

Does your Holley Terminator whistle?

Installed hard lid air cleaner and put a foam insulator in front of the hood scoop to try and quiet the whistle. Only help a little, but not enough. Not too happy....

At this point my Qjet ran as well so may throw that back on.

To be honest I have bad hearing but from what I aware of I don't believe my Terminator whistles. And everyone who has rode in my bronco hasn't asked of a whistle noise so I'm just going to assume it doesn't whistle lol.

Did you contact Holley about the whistling noise? You can also go to the Holley forum and search and ask if they are having those problems. The peep on that forum are pretty chill and helpful. In the meantime I would check the butterflies on the EFI system and another pointer make sure the gasket is sealed properly between the tbi and the intake manifold.

So, Ive been running the EFI for several weeks now and even wheeled it at King of Hammers.

Honestly, at this point, my Qjet was just as good. It doesn't seem to pull as hard and still having starting issues after its warmed up. After many emails back and forth to Holley Tech, they finally told me the hissing and the injector clicking are normal. I have one of the air cleaners with the filament in the top for more flow, so I may change that for a more conventional cleaner hoping that will reduce the hissing and clicking noise. Attached are two videos so you can hear what I'm talking about. I am feathering the throttle so you can hear how the hissing changes.

I haven't given up yet, but curious if the FiTech makes the same sounds?

Thanks for all the info in this thread! Have you been able to solve the noise issues? I've done a bit of Googling and haven't found any other examples where people have complained about this.

My old Howell TBI used to whistle, my Fitech whistles a little but not as bad as the Howell or the sound on your video.

I did some searching as well a few weeks ago and found some similar comments on a Chevy forum but when I sent the video to Holley, they said that normal, which sorta shocked me. I do have an open hood scoop and originally had K and N type air cleaner with the filament in the top. I changed the air cleaner to a hard lid and blocked the scoop but it didn't help much. If you have a solid hood, it might not be as noticeable.

I guess I'll find out soon enough. I just pulled the trigger on a Sniper unit from Wild Horses today! ;D
I've also ordered the Bosch pump from Amazon. Can you provide some more detail on your fuel line setup? What types of fittings? What EFI flex hose did you use, and approx how many feet? What method did you uses to connect it to the hard line?

Thanks!

The whistling noise you hear is most likely the IAC. Mine whistles when first started but after it warms up goes away. Bothered me initially but after I learned what it was I don't think anything of it anymore.

Went back and listened to those videos. I have the Terminator which may not be comparable in this case, but I do not have any of the clicking noises.

Just wanted to provide an update to my Holley Sniper EFI install and experience.

I started having issues with the engine cutting out and finally found out my coil was going bad and was creating interference (RF noise) in the EFI unit.

Here is the thread:
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2965370#post2965370

Hopefully this will help others who may have the same issue.

Thanks,

What switched power source did you use for your system? The instructions say not to use the distributor and not to use the starter solenoid.

I have the 2300 Sniper in my '68 and wired directly to the battery with a switch on the dash. Good opportunity to install a kill switch as the truck won't start if the Sniper is off. Additionally if you try to come off the starter switch you're going to watch the computer shutoff as you crank which will prevent the truck from starting as well.

That's a great idea!
