Mystery wire near carb

Hello all. Great forum and great community.

I have a wire with a female blade connector that's on the driver's side of my carb, sitting on the intake manifold. There is no male connector anywhere nearby and all other nearby electrical systems (dizzy, temp sender, oil pressure sender, etc) have their wires in place. I would appreciate any thoughts of what this is.

My Bronco is an all stock 1977 302 with 2bbl manual choke. Photos below. The rectangular connector is dead centered in the photos. Thanks

X2 on electric choke, other end should be on stator post of alternator.

I like the suggestion about an anti-deiseling solenoid for two reasons. 1) the manual choke on the other side looks original and even has the heat pickup tube that's welded to the original-looking exhaust manifold. 2) there is an unused (dangling) small spring and some other unused mounting hardware near the mystery plug and it seems something was removed by PO.

Thanks for all of the responses I've gotten. I'm enjoying the recent threads about installing electric chokes because that's on my to-do list.

Yes! I'm in the West End near U of R. Great to meet someone nearby. I'm having a great time with my Bronco after having it for only 7-weeks. Yes it's an automatic and I think I have my answer. Let's stay in touch. -Paul

I have a wire at the firewall next to the throttle that was used for an idle stop/anti dieseling solenoid, but it has a round connector. I used it for my 12v choke on my Carter carb and it works fine. Yours appears to have a spade type connector that could/would be used on a choke. Trace it back and see if it connects to a round connector at the firewall.

Or, they could have used a different connector on a 77 than they did on a 73.

It looks like the anti diesal connector for the solonid. If it was for the electric choke it would have clips on the side of the connector to grab the choke housing. the small spring dangling by the carb use to be connected to your down shift linkage on your transmission.
