Need a measurement

Guys, I need a measurement on a windshield. I just picked up a new one and slipped the gasket on it and the gasket is almost an inch to wide on it. Seems to fit height-wise. I cant really get an accurate measurement from the old one in my 75 because of the lip on the gasket. Does anyone have a loose windshield that they can measure the width top and bottom so I can tell if the windshield is too small or the gasket is too big.

I don't want to mess you up but if I remember correctly when I went to install mine I thought the same thing but it worked with no leaks. Of course there were a good number of adult beverages emptied that day!!

Just recently pulled mine out, here are the measurements.

OK, I got the windshield in even though the gasket was a little bigger. My new windshield was a little smaller at the bottom and the gasket was a little bigger. For future reference in case anyone searches later. Next time I will just find a glass guy that will cut a new one from an original as a template instead of buying an aftermarket.

New:
Top - 53 3/4"
Bottom - 56"
Height - 16 5/8"

Original:
Top - 53 1/2"
Bottom - 56 1/4"
Height - 16 1/2"
