Mustang swap question. Note this involves the later ‘94/’95 harness and computer, not the ’93 and prior.
Just put together a nice little engine and backed with 4R70W. All to be run by the Mustang computer just like it should be from the factory back in ’95. Local SCT dealer made me a quick chip to get it running good enough to take in for the custom chip. But it has a strange problem with shifting. After a lot of double checking I can’t find it. It shifts at 5000 RPM no matter what. I even went checked the shift solenoids. The computer is telling the trans to shift at 5000 RPM, so it isn’t a transmission problem. It is the ECM that is picking the 5000RPM shift point. I even went and took the chip out and tried it with a stock mustang program, same thing. It has a handful of codes for the expected things (thermactor, EGR) and one odd one, 121. MAF does not match expected value for TPS value (or something close to that according to the ’94 Ford powertrain service manual). No codes relating to transmission.
Since everyone except myself is on vacation today I have few to ask. So if you have any experience with this exact issue (I really don’t care if you had this problem with a C4 or AOD as it is completely different, not computer controlled and not the same problem) I would like to hear ideas.
