Need Banjo Bolt help with Ch%%y Calipers

Ok, my new Ch$%y brakes are okay with the exception of the banjo bolts. I think I still have the wrong size. Leaking a tiny hair out near the hose banjo connection. Can't tighten anymore or I know I will strip the calipers.

First ones, out of my cores (78 Blazer I think) were too small

Went to Autozone and found some bigger metric ones that were the right length and screwed in nice and easy (too easy? But too loose?).

Anyone been here before know which ones I need?

Hole placement in the banjo bolt shouldn't make a difference since it is recessed anyway (it didn't totally line up with the hose hole)? It shouldn't right? And if it did that would be luck, right?

Do you have the little aluminum crush washers on both sides of the banjo fittings? Any Earl's distributor will have them and they are a good source for the banjo bolts if you find yourself still in the need. I'm leaving to go out of town in about an hour, but I'll check when I get home. I may have four I can send you free on Monday if you send me a PM with your contact info. They're cheap, prolly less than a dollar including postage. Autozone may have the crush washers too. I tried the Chevy dealer when I did mine and struck-out.

As a parting shot, if the bolt won't tighten down properly it work fine and then blow out when you stomp on the brakes to avoid a kid chasing a ball out in the street. I would rather not read that post.

Just found some new copper crush washers that came with the hoses and replaced the other ones. Seems better, but I still hate copper crush washers. Brakes hoses or oil pan bolt washers, they always seep on me! Does someone make a nylon crush washer for these banjo bolts?
Again, these seem to be holding, but I can see brake fluid moisture around the hose fitting. I also don't like "SEEM TO BE OKAY" when it comes to brakes. Gonna keep an eye on it, until I do any real driving. Keep the suggestions rolling, not the Bronco. ;D Thanks everyone!

Cool. Thanks. I might try ordering some of those if these new washers don't do the trick. They look a little more tapered by the hole and might allow them to flow to the hose better than the ones I've got now, who knows.

I HATE LEAKS!

My master cylinder cover keeps leaking all over my fender too! AGH!!!!
 Marking its territory again! I know gaskets, cap, I've tried them all! I'm hoping that levels out and settle down too.

The Chevy caliper is not metric. It is 7/16-20
There should be a copper (sometimes aluminum) crush washer on both sides of the banjo fitting to seal it.

Indian Harbour Bch,
I just had the same issue where the banjo bolt was too short for my chevy calipers, and I ended up stripping 2 threads out of the caliper. Went to NAPA and they had a box of banjo bolts (longer ones) and new copper crush washers. To fix the leak, keep tightning and loosening the bolt, tighten a little more each time, this will make a "groove" in the washers and eventually seal it up. Just did this yesterday... it werks, but check a day or two later to be sure...

Thanks! Yeah, after letting them sit a weekend, I have a teardrop of brake fluid on each side of the lower part of the calipers. The new washers didn't seal. I'll try your trick. The other thing I noticed when I changed the old washer was that the top part of the hose fitting is grooved and the mounting surface of the caliper to hose fitting side is smooth. I might see if I can flip the hose and get it that way. Might give me that better bite on the washer you are talking about.
