I am putting on new flares and will have some pencil sized holes I need to fill in the rear quarters. What is the best/easiest/safest way to fill these? I would rather weld em up but would need some pointers on that... or I can always use body filler..

Thanks

(will be using a small Mig)

The guy from Trucks had a pretty good method. He would take a pop rivet and invert the rivet on the stem and then slide it thru a washer of the approiate size and then weld the washer and rivet to the sheet metal and then grind off the rivet stem part and flap disk sand the surface smooth.

Since I don't own a welder I always take mine to a local body shop. The body man clamps a 2" Dia x 2" long piece of copper bar stock on the back side of the hole to be welded and welds them up with his mig welder. Don't know all the details but he likes my money. :)

With the rust bucket we have tried many different ways of filling holes with the welder. The way we are doing it now is clamping a copper heatsink to the backside and welding it. I am using really small wire .24 and it seems to work fine. There is really no paint on mine to worry about so I just let it burn.
The rear flare holes on the drivers side are a concern as the tank vents are right there.
