I have a 351w on the engine stand. This is a bone stock motor out of a 86 pickup. I also have a mass air fuel injection system i want to install. Tell me what I need to make this conversioin and if it is possible. From what i have read and understand is that i can use the upper intake on a 5.8 lower intake with the adapter from b.c. broncos. Let me know what other modification i will have to do to make this work. Thanks for all the great info

Take a look at Ryan's site, http://www.fordfuelinjection.com , for just about everything you would want to know about an EFI conversion. For the 351/5.8, the biggest problem is the manifolds. BCBs adapter will make this much easier and cheaper.

I have looked at Ryan website and found some info. But i am still confused about the intakes. I also looked for the adapter on B.C.'s website and could not find it. The system I have is mass air but i have to buy a computer for it the rest of the system is complete can I buy the unit at a auto parts.

Find a donor 89-93 mustang for a computer.

Edelbrock makes a 351 fuelie intake, upper and lower.

86 351 btw is about 160-180hp HO

Heads could use some massaging as you will find the exhaust hump is a restriction on the exhaust port.

On a bone stock 86 351 engine the stock computer will handle it just fine.

BC Broncos Manifold Adapter
Previously, the only options for EFI manifolds for the Bronco were the GT40 (Lightning) lower, with either the GT40 upper or Explorer upper. Some people have run the truck upper and lower combination, but even with a 3" body lift, the manifold and throttle body stuck through the hood. Or you could go aftermarket. Several manufacturers make EFI manifolds for the 351. What exactly were you confused about?

Just like Steve said, prior to the BCB adapter the only option was a lightning lower with a GT40 upper or aftermarket intake. But now with the soon-to-be-released adapter you should be able to match a standard passenger car upper to a stock 351W EFI lower. Those are your options.

I appreciate everyones input the ford fuel injection website is really helpful. I am pretty new a engine modification so I am sure I will have alot of what many of you think are elementary post. If I make mods to my 351w like a cam or getting the heads reworked will the stock computer for a 5.0 still be able to handle the motor. Also I will have to buy a lower intake so are their preferances on namebrands.

You can take a stock computer to about 350 na hp. I have heard of some having problems with 351's, but even if you fully race port stock irons with a cam, you will be fine.

You will want a 65mm maf/ Tbod/EGR or greater to handle a 351 and some 24lb injectors to handle your fuel needs.

I run a piggy back with my supercharged application.
