and I am not sure how much lift is on the bronco. Is there a measurement or some way to determine how much lift other than eyeballin it. I am thinking maybe 3.5 but that is a guess.

Also is there anyone familiar with the old "The Force" K Bar S shocks. I am curiuos if they are adjustable. I think they are, and if they are adjustable how does a person adjust them?

Most of the aftermarket kits from the Bronco vendors are 22" front and rear...roughly 6" longer than stock (16.625 front, 16.25 rear). You've got the room and it'll work for most lifted applications which I pressume is why they do it. Fewer options means less to stock.

Just as a side note, you might want to move the front hose frame connection to the outside of the frame while you're swapping hoses if you intend to run headers. I know mine are really close to my brake line...so close in fact, the headers need to come off to even see it, let alone get to it.

I used to have some Gabriel Adjustable "E" shocks that one of the old Bronco vendors used to sell in the 80's. If I remember right there were 3 settings on the shocks. You had to compress the shock and turn the upper mount to align with a mark on the body. It would click to indicate you had changed it.

Not sure if it made any difference at all as there wasn't any scientific way that I had to measure it!

Those instructions may or may not apply to that particular shock but I thought it might shed some light on it.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the help. I measured and guess there is a 2.5 in lift on it. Thanks for the idea on the brake line mounts I think I will go with the outside frame mount, as I am concerned about the heat from the headers. I thought maybe I had to compress the shocks and turn. I recall right those old shocks were Gabriels. Anyway they may be old but never been used. Still have the old K Bar S stickers on them.

I've got those shocks. I think. They are K Bar S and sound like they are adjust like the Gabriel 3-ways. Remove, Colapse, align the arrows and rotate. There is a significant difference going from Soft-Medium-Firm. I'm running them in the rear on an inboard setup on the firm setting. They are also damped softer on compression and firmer on the rebound. Seem like a decent shock.

When I bought this project bronco two years ago the PO had the old style shock set up with 8 of them. I'm hoping I can get a softer ride out of them for around town. Then again I could go firm in front and soft in back. Or firm on the driver side and medium on the pass side. So many options.

My truck had those old Gabriel K Bar S shocks on them, When I went to the cage springs I ran those for a while, untill I cut my shock towers, and welded new towers on.

My truck actually rode better with the Gabriels than the Cage shocks, but to late now.
