They also don't need to be worked on by me. Just picked up an 09 Grand Marq for my dad as they love their Panthers (no one makes a new car even close, we looked).
Only 33K miles and needed over 3 grand of work before I even bought it. Year later and PS is puking up, front struts are shot, door lock broken on pass front, oil reminder "reminds" 24/7 no matter how many times you reset. Guess who gets to fix it all. Most who claim they don't have to constantly "tinker" with their 10 year old and/or 100+K rigs are full of it.
I need at least one car (two really, as I don't have time to fix the misses car either)
I can drop at dealer, pick up loaner, and go back and get it whenever it's fixed (if it's broke).
I’ve owned a couple of 15 year old Toyota’s with 300k on em that required ,zero, repairs .
A 15 yr old ford with 300k , gonna need a lot more repairs than a typical old Yota
They are dull and boring , but the ones I’ve owned have been very reliable
All the stuff that’s gone wrong with my old expedition were all caused by ford trying to save a fraction of a penny or by having a total idiot design it and another team of total idiots sign off on the design
Two threads engaged to hold the spark plug in the head ?
Any handyman or first year engineering student knows that’s not going to work
A spark plug that breaks when you remove it ?
Clearly designed by an idiot and never ever tested in real life
The plastic cog that’s broken on every rear AC unit ?
Could have been easily made from something stronger , but would have cost a tenth of a cent more
The plastic cog that breaks on the adjustable pedals ?
(Needs to get people further away from the airbags that were killing people )
Etc etc
And what’s with the ignition coils on fords ?
The ones on our Yota were never replaced
The ones on Chevy LS motors last forever
On a Ford you have to replace them every couple of years
