If you want the best source on the new Bronco you need to follow Bronco Club of America on Facebook. I know lot's of you are anti FB, but if you want the best news, that's where it's at.

Not seeing how a facebook page claiming the next name will include a Maverick, with no source proof, is any more accurate than here on this forum. No, not using facebook, disagree that's where it's at.... This is where its at.

I've got nothing against the book of faces, I've just never been on it. If there's some solid info on the new bronco that's on there how about sharing it here.

Ditto to the above. Please share so we on this vintage site don't have to sign up on FB and be tracked the rest of our lives.

This is where it's at for early Broncos. Totally agree with that. BCA is sponsored by Ford. They will not be posting the latest "rumors", but what they will do is post any news as soon as Ford releases it and will correct or deny any rumors that are blatantly incorrect. BCA killed the Maverick rumor, they did not confirm it. Toddz shared this here (on the Maverick thread) as soon as BCA posted it.

Their recent post announced that Ford is now a BIG sponsor of King of the Hammers. I don't think they'd make this investment if the new Bronco is going to be a soccer mom SUV.

Agreed, they want bragging rights with the race Bronco, good for them. Maybe good for real street bronco, I hope.

Seems to me, if they were confident in there production bronco, they would have run the production bronco in a stock class. What they did is like nascar, nothing related to production vehicles.

I think the Bronco R was their way of showing the public what the body is going to resemble.
I do like the body lines on the "R". I like the way the fenders come up above the hood like the original. I was wondering how they would capture that look in a new body.

As opposed to the actual bronco showing what the bronco is going to resemble?

Instead of them showing us the actual body of the new Bronco. I think they were wanting to see the publics reaction to the body style.

Anyone know why the bronco r didn’t finish the race ?

What I read from thedrive.com

It's unclear exactly what gave out on the Bronco R to retire it from the race—according to Ford spokesman Mike Levine, the team was able to repair a broken skid plate, a busted control arm, and a few other unspecified issues before being forced to call it quits

There is another article that has more detail. The truck was running and driving fine but they had issues with an aftermarket cooling fan; the final portion of the race was one where it would be very difficult to recover the vehicle or perform any needed field repairs should something go wrong with it so they decided to scrap it.

Also, to see how rough the course was see this picture. Thing went through hell for sure:
