It is really prefernce. The really old HW and Matchbox have some value, but current regular line cars are stamped out at a rate of about 1 million each so their value in 10 years wil still be a couple bucks. I open broncos and enjoy them for the most part. Aside from a handful of cars each year, you probably are not going to get rich doing diecast so I say tear into them and appreciate what a dollar still buys. Trivia, Did you know that not including wheels/axle that every matchbox and hot wheel is made with 3 pieces or less?

that maybe true, but I hope my grandkids will enjoy them after I am gone. so they are worth something to me;)
