New engine & transmission for '82 full size Bronco

I just purchased a 1982 full size bronco to restore. It has the original 302 with a 3 speed transmission that I'm looking to replace new as the starting point for the mechancials with several more items to follow. I'm thinking either a new 302 or 351 paired with a 4 speed transmission would be ideal as a starting point, curious to hear anyone's thoughts for the best options out there?

SevenT is correct, most of this site's knowledge is the Gen 1, commonly know as the EB "Early Bronco". But some of us do dabble in the later versions...

82, Gen 3 model, would still be a carbureted motor, I don't think they came with a 3 spd manual trans (???), so are you referring to a automatic?
Would you plan to pull this motor yourself and have a machine shop rebuild it? Do you have the skills and equipment to do this?
Or would you get a crate motor and install that? Or maybe take it to a shop and have this work done?
351w would fit , but the 302 accessory mounting brackets may not transfer over and work with a 351w. Not sure if it would clear the A/C box on the passenger side if so equipped. 351 was an option that year, so you could find the parts...
Transmission - auto or manual. Probably an AOD automatic was an option for that model later in that generation. Not sure what 4spd manual was offered, I think it only came with 300 in line six cylinder? Finding / sourcing a donor vehicle would be the easiest. Other options for both are probably available, but then you have to purchase adapters and such, create linkages, wire things up and get controllers- say if you ran an 4R70W 4 spd automatic out of an Explorer. Lot's of ways you can go depending on your budget, skill level, and available tools to accomplish the task. And finally do you have to worry about getting the vehicle smogged, like is done in a few states? Making changes like this might make it it impossible to get it registered.
