This is the even bigger reason to use LED brake lights. They light instantly, or somewhere like 200-400 milliseconds quicker than incandescent.

Big deal, right? The theory in just math terms is that much quicker or earlier notice of stopping can mean allowing the person behind you to stop up to 19' sooner. (ideal conditions I would say)

Even 7' sooner could mean someone didn't hit you, or just bumped you as opposed to crumping cars.

I googled it, found this as an example, its just theoretical values of course, but LED brakes will reduce rear-end collisions. At 60mph your traveling like 88ft per second, so any early warning can mean feet of extra stopping.
