I told [glow=red,2,300]69Early[/glow] and [glow=red,2,300]jims66[/glow] I'd get back with them with photo's when complete...

I've had these inserts all winter and it's FINALLY warm enough here in northern Nevada to go "Roadster!" :D

Since the vehicle had been re-painted sometime in the last 34 years, matching the color was impossible using the VIN #. :p

Body shops and paint are pretty $$$ pricey - too much to paint some little door inserts, so I went to "Carquest" up in Reno and the fella matched the color and put it in a spray can. Cost was $90, but I ordered 6 cans. A little overboard, since I only need a little more than one! (At least I have PLENTY for touch-ups....).

The color is pretty close. You can see once you get up close near the top of the rail the "original" color, the PO's paint color, and the "new" door insert color...

All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the CarQuest folks! :)

Looks good, I bet you could do a pretty good blend on those top rails with some of that paint you have!

I know! I can't for the life of me figure out WHY the PO got the rig painted WITH THE TOP ON!!! :p

I *might* touch up those scratches... or slap on some of those diamond plate "bed" lip covers.

The more I look at it and the more it sits in the sun, the more the "new" paint on the door inserts are "blending" in, or matching, the body color. Next weekend it should be "cured" enough to rub some compound on and polish it a little...

Where can I get one a those gas cans and mounts!!!
[/quote]

The mount was on the tire rack when I bought it (it looks pretty easy to fab up). I picked up the "Jerry Can" at CarQuest in Carson City. I think it was around $20 (?).

I haven't used it yet, but I don't have the AUX tank and am ascared I might get in a bind out here in the middle of nowhere (snake bite kit in the glove box). :p ;)

You'll have to touch up those rails or get some rust colored spray paint so the inserts match the rest of the truck.

SHEW! :p I know! Esp. since I think I'll be moving back to Virginia next year (maybe more than 1.0" of annual rainfall).
