BTW, I finished the cleaning of the bottom of my better tub, and shoot it with undercoating, it had minimal surface rust. I also started removing the hood, grill and fenders from the bronco. I got the front suspension bushings on the mail and all the engine parts from JEGS. I hope to move the axles over to the new frame soon. either that or hit the one yard Saturday looking for 4x4 tail shaft for my AOD and an adapter plate, if I am lucky get also the 205 TC.

removed all the front sheet metal from the old Bronco, I want to remove the front axle and suspension. It turns out that is has a 3" lift already, no rust on springs or leafs, poly bushings already, and dual tuff country on a hoop upfront, single on rear. I wil grind the hoop off and reweld to my new frame.

Explorer swap

What I am asking is:
"has any one done such a swap"??

I'm also interested in doing a V6 or V8 explorer swap engine and tranny in my '66.

Kurt, sounds like I am going to go and look at the Explorer TC, it is only 120 dollars, I figure if it can take a V8, a family of 5 or 7 and still tow a trailer, it will be enough for me, no top, no doors, and 33's. although if I locate a ford 205 I will take it. stay tuned to my saga

I am very interested in hearing about your project. I'm considering putting in a modular V6 or V8 into my '66. I'd like to use the Engine, TC, tranny, etc. My concern is what mods might have to happen with Engine Control Unit off of the new motor. I'm trying to source "plug and play" wiring that would make the ECU work on my Bronco.

OK, Found a NP205 out of a 77 f100 truck for $250 dollars, I will pick up ASAP before some one else snags it ;D

Also on the way home I will pick up the GT40P heads, matching ceramic coated MAC shorties, valve covers and maybe a b303 or e303 cam, the guy is giving me some pretty new moroso 90 degree spark-plug wires also.

I am hoping to assemble the short block and move the from axle from frame to frame. And hopefully my oldest son can put bed liner on the inside of the tub, that is if Band practice allows

Done;D with the after work fun, I removed the rear end from the rust bucket and tomorrow after picking up the NP205, I will burn the rubber bushings, get new bolts and bolts for the body mounts at the local surplus. Also I plan to shoot the inside of the new tub with bed liner, as my goal is to not have caret, just rubber mats where feet go, I got to still clan the axles and paint them. Sunday, I have 3 more bodies coming to help, 2 from Tijuana, I want to assemble as much of the engine as possible, I have all the parts and got the GT40P's and headers today.

Started the re-ring, cleaned parts, honed bores, installed stock cam. I figure go with stock HO cam for most torque. mounted tub on frame and wow it look awfully tall, no drive-train or interior probably raises it 3 more inches than final height. I will add pics tonight.

A little tired, removing the rest of the interior to scrap the rust bucket tub. pretty much pulled on the seats and out ;D

You are kickin ass on this build man! I think the reason you haven't got a lotta responses is because you seem to have it all figured out what you're gonna do.

Thanks Nightstick, I have been a gear heard and a ford owner since my first stang back on late 80's. I did a complete restore of my 76 ramcharger and helped my Bro rebuild the 351w on his 74 EB. It is a little hard to tell if one is making progress, the people around me say I am, I work 50 hours a week on my real job, then get home and do work on the EB, i had not wrenched for about 5 years, first the wife was sic of me working on the dodge, and then money got tight. due to my Bro giving me easy payments, barter, work on his EB etc, I am really enjoying this build, plus my boys are 11 and 15, they are helping, learning, and my nephew is really pitching in, and of course my Wife misses her CJ7 and our 02 wrangler, she want a 4x4 auto to drive. is seem like all the planets aligned, even my back/chest injury is holding.

I will keep posting to hopefully help others by sharing the phases of the build

It always helps to motivate me when I see other people getting things done on their rig... I haven't done too much the last week, but I hope to have the body off pretty soon. I'm on nights for the next few weeks which should give me the time to get my chassis cleaned up. It's just been so hot down here that it's no fun being in the shop. It'll be cooler at night, which'll be nice.

Cool, I am using all new grade 8 bolts for the body with 1.5" picks and new poly bushings, I just put 2 in to hod the body to the frame as I move as many items from the rust bucket to the new tub, I will also bolt on the 6 point roll cage and then lift off again to do the drive train, exhaust, fuel lines, brake lines etc.

While looking at the GT40P heads I got last Friday I realized they have the air injection holes in the back of the head, how do I plug these? I could weld them, or thread them, any suggestions??

Do they have the treaded hole right next to the air hole? If so just make a small steel plate to bolt over the hole. Use some high temp silicon sealer to make a gasket.

Thanks, I have been working late and not been able to do nothing major. waiting on main bearings, then I can assemble the short block, paint it and install on frame. also need to go to wrecking yard to get the low gears, extension housing and 4x4 output shaft for my aod.

any one have a 205 shifter for sale??;D

cut the frame and threw in trailer, only left the front part with TC tranny and motor. cut the tub off and into trailer also in pieces, only left fire wall part. I need to remove the pedals and a few more things. Tomorrow the new main bearing get here and I am picking up a mustang MAC h pipe to connect to the GT40P shorty headers and do my exhaust, I am hoping to Y into a single flow master, or maybe go with duals along the passenger side.

Also, I took the windshield off and installed it into the new tub's window frame, that was pretty simple.
