Definitely build it as stock as possible with modern upgrades as mentioned with safety and drive ability first on the list. Very nice platform to start with. I'm so jealous. An stock early Half Cab was on my wish list when I was shopping for a Bronco four years ago. After almost two years of searching I gave up and settled on the best Bronco I could find in my price range. A Half Cab is still on my list for my next (second) Bronco. Even if I have to convert a U15 into one.;D I'll be watching for your shows.:cool: Do us proud. ;D

I had been looking at it on craigslist and finally posted it tonight. Lol, didn't realize it was bought. Congratulations on the buy.

Yep. If that is truly a rust free, 51K mile truck.........you have to do a frame off original build. That truck would be worth a lot of money done right.

OR

Sell it as is to someone looking to do an original, frame off build. Still worth quite a bit of money.

What did you end up getting it for?

Do what you want with the truck. Stock is great (with fixes), highly modified is great, restored is great as well. There is no wrong answer.

Thing about keeping it stock and drivable is that you subject yourself to some undue danger. These old trucks were not high on safety, for instance lap belt only, yikes or lack of head rests on the seats. If you plan to drive it a lot, I would definitely modify some safety into the truck, which then means it won't be "stock".

Nice job on the vid. Good luck on the build. It looks like you found one with a solid foundation to work with.

As the proud owner of a modded Bronco - I'd keep that one original. Don''t get me wrong - my lifted, EFI rig is just right for me - but if yours is as rust free as it appears then don't mod it. The only thing I'd consider changing would be a new wiring harness - otherwise it's perfect as is.
Congrats on a great find.;D

A cool Bronco even though it has had a horrible yellow re-spray over the original Wind blue. My vote would be a 'cosmetic' restoration and a repaint to Wind blue. Like it has already been stated; Sport half cabs don't show up every day! There were only 2,200 U14s built in '68 and most were not Sports. It definitely seems that the more original trucks are selling faster and for more money than the wildly modified ones. Even without the economics involved, I would keep it close to original.

Also, you mentioned that the interior light didn't work. Well, yes it works! The '68s didn't have any interior lighting....(except the gauge lighting in the instrument cluster!)

Keep posting pics too!
