Just brought home my departed this world, best desert rat buddy's 1971 Bronco. One owner, 75K miles with a Carter 4bbl, NP 4 spd and rear fender flares. Otherwise, she's pretty much original including paint and interior...

This particular vehicle was featured in a Dec 1976 4-Wheeler Mag article about installing the NP 435. I even have a copy of magazine with pictures of my hands, can't remember how many times I bench pressed that thing but it was A LOT!

Anyway, the differential seals, rear main and transfer case seals are leaking and I don't have the time nor tools to do replace them myself so I'm looking for pointers to shops here in the Portland, OR area that might know what they're doing before I let anybody but me turn a wrench on the Bronco.

Any information will be appreciated...

Thnx

Welcome Bert.
Great Bronco story there; keeping your Buddy's Bronco on the road in Tribute to him.

It would be great if you could get those pictures scanned and posted here on the site.

I cannot help you with a mechanic up North, but I am sure someone from your area will chime in soon.

Keep us posted on your progress. Doug

Thnx for the Welcome Doug

I have some pix I took for the insurance man if that's what you mean. I'll try and get them in the gallery soon. If you mean pix from the article, don't know if I can do that; technically or legally... I'll work on the technical part.

Notice you are in Morgan Hill, this Bronco's home base was Fairfield/Vacaville with a short stints in Quincy and Moab, UT (incidentally I was almost born on Landscape Arch but that's a different story for a different forum)... I met my friend Bud when I was a computer operator at the Lawrence Berzerkely Lab and he was an IBM Customer Engineer; 1972 or 1973... This Bronco has traversed almost ever gravel/dirt road and goat trail in CA from Alpine County through the Rubicon to San Diego County and across Anza Borrego, Death Valley, Imperial County and S. Nevada & S. Utah to my homeland near Moab and down to Monument Valley...

Bud was the guy who did the pictorial archive and restoration of all the pictographs & hieroglyphs for the National Park Service. There is a National Geographic program about some of his work in Canyonlands NP.

Gotta keep this thing going for him and it's a good thing Trucks Can't Talk!

Welcome to the disorder/disease. Can't help you from mn but you are in good hands on tbis site. The seals you mention are not rocket science so any mechanic worth their salt should be able to handle the job with ease.

Welcome Bert to the best site for our EB's. Good to see another one come to light in the PNW. I don't know of any shops around here, but I've done all the work myself on mine and love the feeling of knowing every bolt and wire on my bronco. If you want to take it on, we can plan a day. Message me of u need a hand!

Bronco guy doing Bronco work is Robert Warke in Oregon City.
503-502-3157.

Yep, AKA CBMPerformance or Crazy Bronco Man.

Located in Gladstone. Belongs to Northwest Vintage Broncos.

He works and plays mild to wild. Friendly guy and worked very well on mine.
