from the backing plate you mean?

Use a deep 12pt socket with a tight fit over the end of it, and it will squeeze the fingers so you can remove the cable.

If you don't have the right socket a hose clamp will work also. Just clamp about 1/8" from the end of the fingers. Get the fingers started through the hole and remove the clamp.
