Was on a work trip to Mesa, Az (coincidentally my home town), and was able to drop in at Driven and speak to Randy for a bit. It was great to hear his frank inputs on my expectations. Also great to see a bunch of Broncos in one spot! Looks like Driven is a great place from what you all have said and my brief interaction with them.

Still looking for the "right" Bronco, but I think Dana and Melissa at Bronco Hut may have what I'm looking for. I've been reading a ton on this forum, and it's funny going back and re-reading my original post. I would change it in many ways with all that I have already "learned" from you guys.

Just had the driveway extended. Daily driver will go outside to make garage room for the Bronco whenever it finally shows up! Thanks again for all the help guys.

Update

Updating this thread to close it out. We are now Bronco owners! Melissa at Bronco Hut put me in touch with a great gentlemen who did a frame-off restoration 10 years ago for his wife. He built the truck with pretty much what we were looking for, and he was now looking to sell. I flew out to him to check it out, and also had Paul B. take a look at the pics (thanks again!) and we struck a deal. Had it shipped to Bronco Hut where they put in a Go Street FiTech EFI, family cage, new seats, and some other minor and not-so-minor stuff. We finally got it home 6 weeks ago and have put a few hundred miles on it already.

I’ve had to do some small stuff to it and I have a couple more projects lined up, but we are very happy with it. She is an absolute blast to drive, and it’s fun to see how many people strike up conversations at parking lots or stop lights. The previous owner and I have become friends and we stay in touch, which is great so I can continue to pick his brain about the build.

We took the hard top off and I installed the 200lb Harken Hoister in the garage to lift it. I think it took about 25 minutes to get the top off—24 minutes to unbolt, and 1 minute to hoist away. I have a Harken for my kayak and knew that it is a great lift even though it is spendy…

Thank you again to everyone on this forum who took the time and patience to help us out buying our first Bronco. This truly is a great place with no judgments or unkind words, even for those who maybe deserve it! I’ll be posting lots of questions in the future!

Thanks for the update Bad. And man, is that one nice looking 2-tone EB!
Is that Carribean Turquoise and Wimbledon White? Whatever it is, it's a great combo for sure.

Glad you're a happy Bronco owner (owners I mean!) and the family is enjoying it.

Paul,

Not sure on the turquoise, but it is Ultra White. It was this two-tone scheme when the PO bought it in 2000, and he said he never saw another color under the white until he hit primer when he sanded to repaint. He thought it was a factory two-tone, but I haven’t seen anything where they left Ford like this. Who knows. Sold in Los Angeles 50 years ago, was in CO, then TX.
