Hey all! Been lurking here for a while figured I'd finally sign up!

Mostly looking for information about buying one of these bad boys. I've wanted to for 20 years or so. Hopefully soon!

I'm looking for a daily driver with some mild off-roading in mind (Dunes and a mild Trail near my house.) If I had the wherewithal I'd buy one mostly stock drivetrain, paint, interior, suspension, but put on some white fender flairs and the biggest widest all terrains that would fit and look good. Oh I think i'd do a headers and new exhaust but the rest pretty much stock. I'd like one with pwr disc in the front (as I drove my friends with drums and it was scary!). So either with a conversion or a '73-'75 (those came with disc right?). I'd also like an automatic, tired of shifting and I wouldn't even know what to do with a three on the tree!

I live on the Central Coast of Cali and I don't know too many shops that work on them. So I'm torn between buying a beater and restoring it little by little or buying one after someone already restored it.

We'll see! Until this this place is great! Thanks!

welcome. depending on what you wanna pay, get one with new harness, EFI, hydroboost brakes, good steering (inverted Y is bad) and lockers. i have a 68 with the 76-77 front end, and i am looking to upgrade. almost everything.
btw i said i wanted an "all purpose rig" for both on and off road, but once i went offroad i wanted more and more offroad capabilities. it's addicting!

once you start chasing the dragon, it never stops ;D

I do not think they came with disc front ends until 76 ? Someone will correct me if I am wrong though. 73 was the first year for a c4 Auto as well as power steering. I have one of those really rare 69's though that is uncut, stock looking but has the disc brake & c4 options !

welcome to the site. Don't let the year alone steer you away from an EB, tons of these have been changed. When I got my 76 it ha a Dana30 with drums under it, you just have to take a look and see what your getting.

Happy hunting.

welcome to the awesome early bronco sickness!

I love this place. even when I have an off topic question, this is the first place I go (the only place, more times than not)

it's hard to find a website that doesn't suck, and this right here is it!

if you're mechanically inclined, your options are wide open. if not...good luck! hahaha

seems to me the best deals are found when someone wants to get rid of something they've already started on, but can't find the time or cash to finish

Welcome. . . and the addiction starts. If you enjoy dumping thousands of dollars into a vehicle that is always in a constant state of being "upgraded" buy a EB. If your married, start figuring ways to acquire said "upgrade" parts. And if you have spent any amount of time here, dont wash parts in the dishwasher.

Welcome to CB!

Mid year '71 was the first Dana 44's. '73 was the first year for Auto and Power steering. '76 is when Discs became stock. All this can be converted to the earlier models though. You could probably find an earlier one with some if not all this stuff on it.
