Mike who use to own Bronco Design had the same issue up there, He made a simple bar that would latch about mid way on the inserts.

It's funny how ignorance of the law is no excuse in court, but Law Enforcement Officers whose job it is to enforce the law have no requirement to actually know the law.

Did you just have the doors off or did you have the roadster insert installed? Here in WA, I run my 74 with the inserts and haven't been pulled over yet ;D

1. Ck with your state on "no door" laws. I am sure the regulation and wording is on line.
2. Get your proof in line that EB's come with no doors or the doors are removable like jeeps...and carry a print out in your glove box of the law for the next uninformed cop.
3. I would then go to that police HQ and talk to the guy in charge. Being nice and just ask if you are breaking the law, then how to jeepers pass the law?

Why get tube doors is you are NOT breaking the law?

I was riding around yesterday without my doors and it never crossed my mind. I will have to check the law here to make sure.

most states have a rule about a 3" "lip" for the door sill, that's how the jeeps guys get by. Or had to be available from the factory without doors, which would require inserts. When I built mine, I was not planning on running doors or inserts so I put a panel the same height as the riser for rear floor to the front door post. I also have a tube above that for the cage that was part of the plan so I had to step over the tube anyway so its never in the way. And when i drop a water bottle or camera in the floor it doesn't automatically escape (lost a lot of both that way).

Most likely "he gave you break" with only a warning as he was not able to find the code where it was illegal.
I'd do some searching to find out if it was.

I'm sure every state has a different code /rule concerning "No Doors" .
Last time i checked Oregons' door Law we didn't need em but you had to have at least one rear view mirror .
That being said ; anything on the floor is subject to being ejected when cornering - LOL . Also for me it's a little unnerving driving 50-60 mph without doors . We bought a set of tube doors to cure both those issues.

I never thought about it either. My girlfriend just asked the same thing.

Looking through the Oregon Revised Statutes, the closest things to the doors are rules for fenders and mudflaps.
