Not liking my flairs

I have been going thru the search function looking at other flair installs. i will tell you I have limited experience with plastic / fiberglass flairs. Sure the install is pretty easy but I am not happy with the finish install look. I am working with a good quality fiberglass flair . I would like to do away with the welting but I know what that is going to look like in six months. So if I want a flair that is also body color do I have to install the black welting? If I try and paint the welting I am sure it will peal in time. I swear I should just build them out of metal and be done with it.

Grumble grumble grumble. Sure wish someone made a metal set of flairs.

If you have fiberglass flares. Build up the mounting flange with some fiberglass . Sand it smooth to give a flat mating surface with the quarter panel. Use some nice fasteners with a thin rubber gasket hidden from the edge so it cant be seen like the welting.

I thought Bronco Designs was a good fitting flare.
No welting. Mounted with 8-32 button head stainless bolts and nylock nuts.

There are several adhesives that work well to attach fiberglass flares to the metal body. I'm doing that with the Gr5 flares on my Pantera so that they can be blended in to the original body and not look like they are "scabbed on".

Plexus is one of those that I use. There are a bunch more out now too....Allen Fahey probably has a list of them..
