...I based my question on the build sheet with states NP203 (gear driven)..
Glad it turned out to be a 205 too. They just wrote it down incorrectly it seems. Temporary brain fart or just someone that didn't know the old boxes very well.
I searched and found two different conversions kits that remove the differential devise thereby eliminating the all wheel drive capability. I just wasn't sure if the chain was still involved or even still in there?
Yep, those are the kits the others were talking about. Different versions from 40 bucks to 300 bucks back in the day (hate to think what they cost now!). As you said, they lock up, or replace the planetary gear set in the "differential" portion of the gear box. Don't replace the chain in any way, other than some kits back in the day included a new chain.
I know none of that matters now that you know you have a gear-driven 205, but thought I'd throw that in there so you knew what they did.
Regarding the clutch kit, I was leaning towards the Center Force anyway but not sure of the part number to get for the NP435, also the flywheel part number??
For the 435 you just get what's appropriate for the Bronco. Makes it nice and easy.
Same throwout bearing, same pilot bearing (that's part of the engine side anyway), same 164 tooth truck (large clutch) version of the flywheel, same clutch cover/pressure plate and, because the 435 uses the same size and spline count shaft, the same clutch disc.
The only thing you need to know different, is regarding the engine itself. If it's a 351W or a 302 from the Bronco, it uses a 28oz imbalance flywheel. If it's a newer 302/5.0 from about '81 or later, it will take a 50oz imbalance flywheel.
This shows our basic Centerforce choices and our part numbers: http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/category/s?keyword=centerforce
But that only changes if your engine has. Nothing to do with the transmission.
If I remember, the main numbers you're asking about are something like CF26000 for the standard Centerforce, and CFT26000 for the Centerforce II clutch covers, and DF70000 for the dual friction kit (cover and disc together).
But don't go by my memory. Double check with whoever you're ordering from.
