One other item to check is your PCV system. A bad PCV can cause leaks is odd places.
The other item to check is to see if your PCV system is still on the engine. Some people would remove anything they did not think was needed from the early engines.

I've checked the PCV system. Except the idle does not have a noticeable change when plugging the PCV. Its new and unclogged.

Took it for a long drive yesterday. Unfortunately still leaking. Looks like up high right above the oil pan.

I am wondering if I have a valve seal leak. Did a leak down, numbers were not great compression impressive. We thought might be carbon build up. Blew air through, did not hear it through exhaust. Heard it through oil dip stick and through the carb.
