Old School Aluminum Slotted Mag Wheels

Good Morning-
I picked up 4 Old School Aluminum Slotted Mag Wheels for a Bronco. I am seeking advise on how to clean them up and bring them back to life. I found some information online, but I know this forum is trustworthy. Some online sources seem to be pimping “magic bullet” cleaners. What’s the real deal on how it should be done?
Thanks!

Those look pretty good. No massive pitting. Looks like just a little normal stone chipping. So a straight up polish will probably do you fine.

Nothing real fancy. Aluminum polish and a drill attachment. The cotton style attachments are what you will start with.

There are youtube videos on polishing aluminum. Most start with sanding. I don't think you are going to need to start with a sand. But start with a more aggressive compound.

I've done a fair bit of polishing. Stuff looks way better but it is still armature level work and not show quality. At some point there is some talent involved.

I've got a set (actually '73 Mach 1 14") on my utility trailer.
Getting a set of 8-lug 17" for a '77 F250. Wish I could get narrower then 17x10, but I will make them work.

I started to polish mine myself and gave up after a day, took in them into a local guy who does it for a living and did all 5 of mine for about $250 if i recall correctly. He repaired and trued one of them that was out of spec as well. Money well spent in my case - that is unless you love polishing.

if you're looking for slots that fit a stock bronco look for a set from I think an 1980 or 81 F150. Perfect fit and they're Ford too. I have them on mine.

Those look great - You may be just fine, but make sure you haven't limited your trailer's towing capacity.

Mustangs2 Like said those wheels look pretty damn good to me, but as a first step I would just use water and triple or quadruple zero steel wool. Here’s what I did to the B on this emblem with dry #0000 steel wool in less than a minute
