Yes, I had a local shop do the headrests. I supplied the upholstery material and it was around $60 for him to sew up and install the upholstery. As I recall the headrest brackets did stick up past the seat frame. As long as they are slightly below the top of the pad and upholstery. The plastic covers then slide down over the brackets and clip in place slightly recessed to the top of the upholstery. I can go take a more detailed look if needed, let me know.

This comes up from time to time. Here is a thread from a while back
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37421

It took me several years to source all the parts and they are waiting on the shelf for me to get the nerve up and remove the seat back etc. I was stalling because I understood that the fold and tumble function was no longer possible. But that is good to hear that it is in fact not an issue. I might bump this project back up on my list. The wife has been nagging me to do this on the 76 for while now.

Can you take a measurement for me? I need from the top of the bracket to the first set of holes. I have the Dynacorn reproductions, and they seem a little long. Mine are 3" from the flat tab that at the top of the seat to the center of the bolt hole. Can you check that measurement?

flousberg, I'm about to hit the sack right now, but I will drag those off the shelf first thing tomorrow and post up the results. In fact, maybe I will grab some pictures while I'm at it. This might be a good project to document, maybe for a little Bronco Driver article or something.

So I checked and that measurement is what I have. There is no reason why you could not saw off the upper part by and inch or so if necessary. The tabs are not fully functional and you will want a stiff foam or rubber backing at the top anyway.

I have a feeling my foam is so wore out it seems like they are long. I have new foam coming and I will have everything ready to finish these seats. I am using the dynacorn reproduction brackets and head rests. I was not patient enough to wait for the originals.

I would like to put two front buckets in the back. Has anyone tried that? I would like to use two bronco/mustang seats.

Nice job on the headrests! They look really good. Something to consider if I ever do another.

I have a 68 Cougar that came stock with the headrests...68 headrests have two posts and are rare as hens' teeth. I have one that is damaged in my Cougar so haven't re-installed them in the new upholstered seats. They are also vacu-formed not upholstered (like the arm rests) and unique to 68. It looks like you guys are scoring 69 and up upholstered headrests with a single centrally located flat bar. Correct? If so, those are much more common and I'm excited to add them to my 74 Bronco seats.

So, the hardware is there in the seats already, just pick up the headrests and bolts? That's it?

Yes, the single bar headrests. There are 4 pieces needed for each seat not counting the bolts; the headrest, the headrest trim plate, the bracket, and the bracket retainer - x2 for both seats. The brackets bolt right onto the bronco seat frames.
