I have seen nothing mentioned that will come close to an Oasis DC electric compressor.
It will run an impact gun or grinder even re-seat a bead "without" a tank.

It may be expensive but no need for a tank or bracket for the engine. You just bolt it to the frame run a switched power source and you are set.
I wish I could afford one....

After many years of several disappointing small electric compressors - the last being a Viair - I have gone to Smittybilt CO2 tank. I used the compressors mainly for the front ARB and the only times my ARB didn't work was when I had compressor problems. Some were electrical issues but mostly thermal shut off with the compressor mounted under the hood. (The Viair thermal shut off would trip on a hot day without ever turning the compressor on! The heat of the engine under the hood was enough to do it!) I finally moved the compressor to rear wheel tub in the bed. Solved the overheating issue but it was annoyingly loud!

So, I ended up going with a 150psi Viair/100%duty. Regulated to 90/105 on/off.

For air storage- 2-2.5 gallon tanks, plumbed together under the driver side seat floor.

Should be enough to air up when needed and run the lockers.

I work at a Truck Shop .. We're a freightlinner dealer. We sell a little air tank. That handles the air for the brakes on Big trucks. I'm selling one tomorrow so I'll try & check the price. It's neat . about 2 ft long . with Body Mounts on each end. & SEVERAL Holes for fittings . & I'm also a York fan.. Just in case you don't know .. York can be bad for AC functions but they are still great for pumping air. All they need is compression & the electric clutch 12V. to work. They ground thru the base or frame .. & Power goes into one wire. Simply run a 12V source to that wire thru a toggle switch . Flip the switch .. Clutch Kicks in & you have air pumping . Flip off & clutch Just Idles.
... Here's a picture of a free set up I built. See the Air Filter .. No AF4895. Fleet GUARD. IT'S ON THE INTAKE SIDE. I threaded the other hole An one brass fitting into it . Out with anything to the tank.

I would be interested to see what total cost would be to have a really good Viair pump and tank verses just the Oasis pump with no tank.
I can't afford either anytime soon; saving up for a boat right now but would still like to know which direction makes the most sense.
The Oasis is just sooo expensive....but it's specs are second to none.

I had a York but swapped it for a small rotary type, space was at a premium. I am going to go back to the York somehow. The other one works but the York is at least 3 times faster.
I just picked up a Smittybuilt electric compressor from 4 Wheel Parts for a customer. It will be a while before I can try it though. Decent specs and the price is reasonable at 149.99 for the kit. I am going to be mounting it and adding a small storage tank.

I got the ARB twin last year and it works really great for lockers and airing up my 33" tires quickly.

I want to add a tank so I can run tools on the trail. But I haven't really had that need yet so still contemplating the added expense.

I have a couple of old small Co2 bottles I use to powder the ARB. They are like 2.5lbs but seem to last a very long time.

Yep, I use an alumium 20lb tank on the Bronco, and several steel 20lb tanks around the house to make it easier working on things without a current shop or easy electrical power.

I used to run a 10lb tank on my trucks, but when everyone wants "a quick sip of air" there's not much left for me out of a little 10 pounder.

Sanden AC pump, welded up the 6pt cage to seal air tight, that was 9 gallons of air volume. I put a pressure gauge on the driver front leg right above the dash to watch air pressure. Quick disconnects on the middle legs of the cage right behind the front seats for the yellow coil air hose.
Then I thought, why am I waiting 35 seconds to fill 9 gallons of space to 125 psi just to fill my tires?? I shut off the tank/cage and just ran direct. The air pressure actuated switch kept the pressure between 90-120 anyway. The bottle neck was the valve stem. I would pull the dash throttle to about 1500 rpm and the pump would still cycle.
Never did any oil mod, just shot the intake with WD-40 once every 4 tires were filled or so. Never failed until I flipped it on in 4 degree F weather and it broke. Must have had some water that froze in it and then who knows what happened.
Pump was $20 at the junk yard and the rest I had just laying around in the garage.

I had a York until I went to the Explorer serp set up. Just no room to cram the full size York below the p.s. pump. would love to see more pics from you guys who run them with Explorer serp. I did find a smaller York on VW at the pick and pull. going to see if I can skinny things down to fit them in...

The Oasis is basically a York driven by a winch motor. Why can't I do the same thing?
Several years old mock-up:

Going to put it into service within the next year. See if that Hitachi starter motor can hang long term.

Since acquiring an NV 4500 I've been looking into PTO set-ups. Even found a PTO compressor as a ready-made unit. Designed to run a small jack hammer, so you can probably guess both the price and the CFM/PSI.
Problem with PTO is the cost of the drive and they're not universal.

I ran a 1st gen. ARB compressor from '87 till '95. It died.

I ran an upgraded ARB compressor from '95 till '99. It died.

I ran a York from '99 till '11 when I installed my exploder serp belt strrroker. I've been running a Sanden SD709 since then. I did the grease mod, I shoot oil into the intake before EACH use. Works great BUT I don't treat it like an air compressor like I did my York...no nail guns, no DA sander use, etc...light duty only.

I am currently building a bracket for my Exploder serp belt driven strrroker (thanks Allen for pics) with a TC style (looks similar to an Exploder p/s pump but has 1600psi and almost 5gpm). It is almost down to the frt cross member and the York fits above it...I really like the placement because the top of the York doesn't stick above the valve cover. This bracket clears the wtr pump outlet on the drivers side with plenty of clearance.

When I finish the prototype this weekend, I'll post up some pics... I called all the vendors looking for a bracket that would hang a hi-flow/hi-volume pump down low so your p/s reservoir could be large AND in close proximity to the pump and a clean York mount for OBA for long term dependable air supply. This might end up working!
