Outer Axle Slinger - Spacer and Seal

I am in the process of swapping my stock front axles for the Yukon's. When I took it apart I noticed that my outer axle shafts did not have the spindle/outer axle seal or the brass/plastic spacer but they do have the slingers. I have done allot of searching and noticed that all the D44 have this but I ran across something here on this site which said that some of the early 1972's did not have these seals and spacers. Is this correct or should I get them and put them on?

I have the Chevy front brake conversion but I am still able to put the outer c-clip on the outer axle shaft (stock Ford outer axle). Will adding these seals and spacers change the length and not allow me to put this c-clip on the end of the outer axle? I ordered stock length outer axle shafts when I got my Yukon’s so I am hoping I don’t need to get the GM outers if I add the missing parts.

If your using the stock hubs then yes you do need the GM outers to be able to fit the C-Clip on. I think you can also swap to warn hubs with the threaded bolt and washer and you will be OK

I have the Warn premium hubs. The c-clip will still fit after I install the missing seal and spacer on the stock length outer axle?

On the late model ('76/'77) you need the snap ring on to keep the axle pulled up against the seal. Otherwise the seal will leak.
