Question can i just paint over the shinny aluminum new timming cover i just recieved from Toms off road. Using Dupli color engine paint. Do i have to sand or scuff up the aluminum before paint? Currently im masking off all the matting surfaces with tape (water pump) and also the face of the seal where harmonic balancer goes. Any suggestions or help appreciated

not worth it to paint aluminum. after a while through heat and cool cycles, the paint will peel off. this is my experience.

Use a self etching primer first then your engine paint, if yo u are going to paint it.
