Performer Intake?

Hey guys, Extreme Rookie with reguard to intake and carbs. I have a 73, 302, std. trans, manual steering and brakes, and have just taken off the stock manifold/carb, to replace with the Performer 2121 intake/Q-jet. I have the new manifold mounted to the engine, and was wondering which port to plug in the rear? (2121 has additional ports available). I assume the attachment w/vacume hoses has to go into one, but which?

If anyone has some pics of this set up, showing connections, it would help a bunch....

I dont know about the Q-jet Performer, never seen one but the water temp sender hole is front left sitting in the Bronco and all the rest are vacuum on mine

Terry, sence you have manual brakes, trany and should have electric wipers then plug all of the holes in the back of the intake (nothing else needs vacume). You can get plugs from any auto parts store and use some teflon tape (helps seal and lube the threads). While you are there pick up some vacume line plugs cause you will need these on the carb. Good luck

Just felt like I needed to express an opinion here.

DO NOT use Teflon tape anywhere on your automobile!!! Yes, it's true, tapered pipe threads need to have something on the threads to help make the seal, and to lubricate the threads. But there are issues with Teflon tape that make unsuitable for automotive applications. The problem is that the tape will create threads of teflon that will contaminate anyplace it's used. First, if the tape is wrapped below the lower thread, when the fitting is tightened, the lower portion of the tape will be sheared off, allowing it to come loose and get into whatever place its' used to seal off. Second, if the fitting is removed and replaced, the teflon will remain in the female threads, and be forced loose when the fitting is tightened again, with the same resulting contamination.

Use anything else for pipe dope. There are liquid teflon pastes that are very good. Personally, I use Permatex #2 (non-hardening) in a tube, and have never had a problem.

I have never been a fan of the tape, used tube...now if i can just get the vacume hoses in the right order on this q-jet. Also does anyone know the easiest way to get the electric choke put on the q-jet, and is there another return bracket and spring for the throtle? Most of what i've read says a direct bolt on, but maybe it's just me, cause i'm not seeing it

One vacuum line you might need is from your vacuum advance at the distributor to the carb. It's a small line (5/16 or 3/8) and usually attaches to a small port on the front (grill side) of the carb. All other vacuum should be plugged (no p/b or a/t).

Not positive that it's correct but I put the line from the pcv to the big port on the front passenger side of my quadrajet. I put my vacuum tree in the hole closest to the brake booster. BC Broncos sells a nice throttle cable/bracket that I used that made it a direct bolt-on. If you don't use that I think you have tomodify your stock linkage,if you do a search here you will find out how. This is what BC broncos cable setup looks like.
