The dual motor setup comes from Lithuania if not mistaken. They are now on Ebay like $1300 plus shipping, super cool looks, but I saw the video and line speed pulling didn't really impress me to the point that it is on my wish list. Unloaded it is probably like a fishing reel, but unless you are racing and need to beat the crowd at TTC or the like it is overkill. The 8274 is sweet. To give an example of their value. The first series were known as Bellview. I bought one off a member off the EBLM 15 or so years ago. I had an uncut 67 and I was going to put it on as a period piece, as with life i had to sell the 67 and kept the winch, I sold it on Ebay that long ago for almost $600 after I polished it out, serviced it and installed some cable, I had $200 into it. Most of the parts don't work with the 8274 and the rating was 8K. My newer upright is as good as it gets although the older ones had a nicer finished look. I have a new bumper almost finished for it and it keeps it really low which is the only shortcoming the winch has. Must be why most of those safari/endurance racing team run it. Many people sorry to say don't have the cash to run one or have use for it's fast speed. With that said good score, and I traded a new M8000 and sped quickly away before the guy changed his mind:eek:

Great score Ted!

I'm not sure how rare or sought after that might be for Jeep people doing restorations. Might be worth looking into?

I know if that was a hard to find Bronco option, it could easily be worth double what a normal one would be. Just like the Warn hubs. An old set of Ford option marked hubs would be worth as much (or likely more in this case) than a new set of Warn Premiums.

nice find. $300 bucks is about $250 more than id pay for a 30 year old winch though. If thats the look your after then its perfect! CL is a good place to find old parts for these things.

Now that you took the winch that bumper ant worth its weight in steel barly! Bet the guy throws it in the trash.

Damn, where do you come up with this stuff?

I've seen you chime in on at least a few threads about winches and never agree with you so I have to wonder how much real world expeiriance you have with various winches and serious use of them on a regular basis? ?:?

I do not intend to come off as a douche, but many people ask or read on this forum who really have no idea, and they take what they read to heart and base expensive purchases on it. The best way to spend too much money on a winch is to buy the cheapest item to then find out you really need the more expensive one which you then buy as well!

Do you really prefer the econo import crap over what is actually one of the most tried and true, hardest working models of all time?

The 8274 has a different look, but one that goes quite well on and EB. However, it is the most robust design and has one of the fastest line speeds, most positive braking, and more cable than most any other model.

For hardcore wheelers who use winches for more than an ornament, your position on this would be like saying that a newer KIA Sportage is a better off roader than an 35-45 year old Bronco because it is newer and has a more modern style.

For many, function and reliability are the key features for serious 4x4's and the parts we put on them.

As for the bumper, I bet there are some guys who would pay a decent buck for it. I have seen much worse looking ones people have used and liked. Personally, I'd at least cut off the half cobbled up looking brush guard.

8274 is a badass old winch. Im running one on the rear of my plow truck in a receiver cradle i fabbed up. I dound the winch one spring years ago after itd been knocked around by a bucket loader and left in a giant pile of snow. All it really needed to work was a new set of solenoids and fresh oil....

Couple of diffrent folks making the dual motor set up's the one I posted is from Germany. Not really a matter of line speed or pulling the comp's overseas can turn into winch fests and two motors pulling will stay cooler than one. I've sat at the top of obstacles and winched folks up and after two or three good pulls a winch motor can be smoking hot!
