I'm about to reinstall stock power steering box and pitman arm. The shop manual calls for 105 to 135 ft.lb. torque where arm attaches to the box, but I can seem to find the other nut torque where the pitman attaches to drag link. Here's a pic. Thanks for any help.

Do you know the size of the fastener? There are engineering recommendations on torque specs based on fastener size - a quick Google Search will probably come up with the recommendation for same...

I always FORGET this; just installed my front and rear Hellwig anti-sway bar kits, and the directions "reminded" me of same, as they list them for you on the instruction sheet...

My reaction is always "as f*ckin' tight as you can turn it", but this is NOT technically correct...:-[

its way tighter than 60 ft lbs.-- tight as F is probably in the 100+ easy!

For tie rod ends 40-60 is the only spec Ive ever seen its the taper that does the work not the fastener. Once seated its good. just have to hold it there.

I just checked the '72 Ford Truck shop manual. It does not call out the Bronco specifically. It lists E-100/200 at 45-55 ft./lbs. and All Other at 60-75 ft./lbs.

The Bronco uses the smaller linkage like the E series.

Either way there is the range, no mention of tight as F anywhere.

I just looked up on my 74 ford truck shop manual, and I got the same torques as broncodriver99.

I only take them a little past snug and then tighten to cotter pin alignment - never loosen. Never had one work loose or wobble around, and you don't have to work so hard to get them to pop loose when you want to take them off.
