I’m having a 1970 restored. It’s about a month away from delivery. Title has not passed yet. The VIN on the frame in the glove box starts with U15GL. The VIN on the current Pennsylvania title starts with U15GC. All other letters and numbers are identical. Feedback anyone? Thank you very much.

Does the C exist in both numbers? Maybe it’s just missing the L?
Either way, and no matter the reason or the rhyme, VIN discrepancies with Broncos are very common.

Apparently just a typo on the title. “L” is for the Lansing assembly plant where all early Broncos were built.
Check with your DMV. They should have a process for correction. Usually you fill out a form, get it notarized, and send in the old title and get a new correct one in return. Since the title is not in your name, you may just want to deal with it when you do the transfer.

Oldsmobile and Fisher Body were the auto factories in Lansing while EB's were in production. My Dad and Grandpa both worked at Olds. The GM Delta and Grand River Assembly plants are now there.

Broncos still come out of the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, near Detroit.
