I've used POR15 in the past, both on prepper rusted parts and sandblasted parts. Found Tremclad rustcoat looked better and lasted longer. The again, I'm in Canada where you can hear your vehicle rusting.

You are never going to get an answer. Just some wild guesses.

Depends on how bad the frame is and how good of a job you want it applied. With the body on the frame you are going to miss a lot of spots, which is a bit of a low quality job. But if you are willing to pay, there can be a lot of masking and taking parts off to access that can't be reached otherwise (like the area you can't access behind the gas tank).

POR goes a long ways. Buy a qt and you'll have left overs....
Like Broncobowsher said, you will miss a bunch of small areas but nobody will see those --right!! ;)

POR sucks. I did my frame with it before i was set up to spray "real" paint. 5 years later my frame looks like shit and the things i shot with single stage urethane look tits. I brushed it on and also topcoated it. its a bitch to brush. i should have just shot my frame with single stage urethane.

I am not at all happy with POR 5 years down the road.

And i did use there etch spray and rinsed it off the whole 9 yards. it was a shit load of money for a gallon of spray and a quart of POR and the topcoat. Not worth the coin. you would never see a professional body shop painting frames with a 1 part paint system

Gotta agree. POR 15 really isn’t that great. I don’t use it unless it’s for a seasoned rust item (like their literature says). Additionally it’s a hard coat, which is hard to paint later on, and it does tend to peal if not applied perfectly.

I much prefer an epoxy primer followed by a hot rod black single stage paint. This is a lot easier to repair at a later date. I know it’s blasphemy, but my touch up is done with rustoleum satin black.

Need to know the ballpark price to clean and paint with por15 frame with body on frame.

If you know someone or trust someone to do it right and to be thorough, I would say 20 hours labor plus materials...but it still won't be 'right'. So if you're not going to remove the tub then you may as well take it to Ziebart and pay $400 to have it undercoated, just my 2 cents

I used Rust Bullet on my frame and parts of the body. The frame was painted with Rust o leum satin black. I'm very happy with the job. Will let you know in a couple years how it holds up. Just my opinion...

im not a fan of powdercoat either.....the powdercoated parts under my body lasted longer than the POR did bit still flaked off withen 5 years. Again all my single stage urethane parts look like new.

I would single stage urethane it or use Raptor-x. But the raptor-x will not allow you to make seamless touchups in the future as you find yourslef grinding and welding things to the frame.

Why are you so worried about the frame. They usually last forever. Id spend the money fighting rust on the tailgate and windshield frame and such where it will inevitability eat you alive. Take a wire brush and some rattle can paint and a chunk of cardboard and go to town. for about $50 and a black thumb you will have a clean frame that will last as long as POR.

If the powder was done right it should last forever. That being said, high quality paint is pretty awesome stuff.

I see you are in valley stream. Go get yourself a day worker from home depot. Give him a wire brush and let him go to town. Then do your prep and paint. A quart will be plenty, as por15 stretches very far. Do not listen to por15 nay sayers. Like any paint, if done properly will do amazing. You will run into problems with humidity being on long island. Proper prep, temperature, humidity, and application are needed. I did my 56 f100 frame in Massapequa with por15. It's perfect.

I knew about the tool rental, but was not aware Home Depot loaned out workers?

They don't, but in many parts of the country workers of questionable documentation hang out there in the early mornings looking for day labor jobs which pay cash.
