I am sure this has been discussed but a forum search for "Zero Rust" didn't produce anything.

Thoughts on this? Reading on the www I am finding comments about Por15 cracking and flaking over time and Zero Rust being easier to apply.

Maybe it's just people justifying be tight wads since Zero Rust is cheaper.

I put POR on my Bronco frame 8 years ago that still looks brand new. The people that had it crack and flake did not do proper surface prep! I applied the POR with a paintbrush and when it dried it was smooth and did not retain any brush marks. I have had such good luck with POR that that is all I buy.

I have had both experiences with POR15.

If you use their etching spray stuff it makes a world of difference. It really adheres well to sandblasted surfaces.

But when I painted an axle housing that I had just wire wheeled shiny it flaked off when I pressures washed it.

I used KBS Rust seal. it worked great but with all things, prep is important. I picked KBS because it's moisture cured and flexible.

not a POR15 fan here but its because I feel like its only good if its on a sandblasted surface-- if I was coating a sandblasted whatever I would probably use it but like 68 said on other no absolutely bare surface I am not so impressed. I think the Rust Bullet stuff is ok as it can be applied without the 87 1/2 different prep steps that the POR15 product needs to work right and will bite into older wire wheeled/roughed up paint.

I am getting my frame blasted - as well a most steel parts (frame off build) prior to coating so it sounds like I should be good in any case if I am anal about it.

Thanks
