possible carb issue?

Hey guys/gals,

new to the world of Broncos and I need some help. I've got a '76 with 75K miles on it. The Bronco is in great shape but the PO pretty much just kept it in his barn, driving it very little. As a result, it has quite a bit of dry rot on all the rubber parts. I just put a new carb on and it idles just fine, but when I put it into drive and give it a little gas, it dies. If I put it into drive and give it a bunch of gas, I have a fun, jackrabbit start and I can get it going. Not very safe doing it that way though. Is this a carb issue? Any thoughts?

Thanks

Check the accelerator pump linkage on the carb see if its in the second hole from the top. That linkage effects how large a squirt of fuel you get when you accelerate, to little and it wont go, too much it stumbles until the fuel is used up.

Next check your choke it may be closed too far or not opening up at the right time. this will cause a big stumble too unless you floor it then mechanical overide takes over and opens up the choke.

as above check for vacuum leaks, any vacuum leak reaks havoc on the carb system.
