Probably no real differance but if you really look at what the vendors offer there are only a few that are double the price. Most of the ones that are include all the parts you need to make it work.

I run one of those eBay brake booster. It works great, other than the master cylinder lid leaked no matter what I did, replaced that and it's great...

I purchased a complete kit from Ebay (different seller) and the only part I ended up being able to use was the bracket. The booster was too small and had hardly any boost and the master leaked so bad I tossed it in the trash.

I purchased one from TomsClassic

I purchased one from TomsClassic off of ebay. It worked great. Happy to send picks if it helps. Everything bolted right up without issue or modifications.

I bought one of Tom's no modify systems on a Christmas sale... The booster started having issues and they took care of their customer and replaced it.

Will you get that kind of service from an EBay seller, are they a phone call away?

Remember you get what you pay for. This statement is a whole lot truer today with all of the Chinese manufactured parts... My .02

From what I have read to do hydro boost right you need a dual return ps pump, so that means a new pump, brackets and hoses so I don't see how it possible to do it right for $40. I'm sure guys who spend a ton of time at the junk yads you can probably find most of the stuff you need from doner vehicles but Id rather not spend 8 hrs at a yard hunting for parts that may or may not work.

I may go hydro down the road but I am going from drums and no booster to disks with a booster so I'm sure I will be happy with a standard brake booster for now.

I would have to agree.
Drove my budds '76 the other day.
His stock vacuum booster brakes scared me because they were so much better than my non boosted brakes.
Everything in life is relative. You are right. That ebay kit will be a big improvement over what you have now.

I didn't say I was buying one off of ebay yet, I am just looking into parts and was wondering if anyone knew the difference between this kit and the basic kits some of the vendors sell. I know the master cylinders look ridiculously cheap, but even decent quality master cylinders aren't expenseve. The brackets can't make that much of a difference, so it really comes down to the booster. I know the booster in this kit looks different than the boosters sold by the vendors, but what is the actual difference in the boosters?

As for the you get what you pay for, I agree to some point but not always and if you aren't at least looking at your options then you aren't doing yourself any favors. And yes there is a lot to be said for customer service.

The answer is NO.

I contacted the ebay seller I got mine from and they basically told me I was stuck with it unless I wanted to spend more money for a better one.

The booster appears to be the 8" dual diaphragm that BC sells.
I believe it looks very similar to the Mustang II booster.
BC states that their dual diaphragm makes more boost than the stock one.

Some of the vendors sell ones that look exactly like the one off ebay. MC and all. As was said it may come down to a customer service deal. Check the ebay seller see if anyone has complained about returns and such. For what it is Id pretty much expect its the same part the vendors sell as its not like there are any other vehicles that use the bronco bracket. Booster and MC yes but again there are probably not that many companies building them either. So everyone probably gets the same stuff.

Beware I have heard that some aftermarket boosters are single diaphram and do not work very much better, if any better than a manual brake set up. The diameter limitations of a vacuum booster in a Bronco pretty much make a dual diaphram vacuum booster manditory to get a good power assist with vacuum. Can't say much for hydra-boost never installed one, not a big fan of them myself but others here swear by them.
