Power steering hose installation?

I've just installled a saginaw PS pump like the one on the right column and a 4x4x2 F150 gear box like the one BC sells and shows how to build. I can't seen to get the PS lines in the correct way though. There is one that is hitting the steering shaft (I think it's the HP hose) and it's binding the shaft up. I also have it in the air on jack stands because I'm also in the middle of a disc conversion and it isn't feeling like there's a big difference yet. Could I have the hose's installed in the wrong locations? Can anyone tell me from what location in the pump to gear box the hose's should be run?

The high pressure connection on the back of the saginaw pump can be rotated to allow the hose to route any direction you wish. I would start there.

I used two 90 degree fittings for mine, using inverted flare to -6 adapters. You can see pics of how I routed mine on my site. Good Luck!

On mine, the pressure hose comes from screw in fitting in back of pump to smaller fitting on gear.(farthest away from steering shaft)
I tried several pumps before I mounted this one from a 7? Ford van so I had lots of pressure hoses. I used a 3/8 brake line to make part of my pressure hose and the other part from a factory hose.
Is there a part # available for a hose that will fit this conversion?

Adapted hose to fit.

Another view of adapted hose. Return line was left long so it would be easy to install a cooler when I find one.

I would NOT use a hose with a hose clamp on the high pressure side of the pump. You are just asking for that thing to come loose.

It's easy and not expensive at all to go to the local speed shop, buy a piece of high pressure hose and two new end fittings. It easily cuts to length and the end fittings are easy to put on with standard wrenches and a tiny bit of grease.

My local shop carries XRP products, but you can go with Russel, Earls, Aeroquip, Etc....

I had the local earls dealer make some nice hoses for the 66. On the 72 I think I bought the shortest pressure hose they had with the right fittings. I had to add a little bend to it to make it fit.

I agree with you on the pressure hose. I have blown it once already. That is the basis of my question in the above post. Yes, I have a local shop that will build any hose someone needs. I would like to have a part # from a donor vehicle or application that might fit. That makes it easier to get parts if there are problems otherwise I am looking for a specialty shop when out of town.

Well last night while I tried to tweek the hose in the dark and I messed up the new hose I got from BC. I'd call them but it's Sunday.Anyway I went to the parts store with the old/new hose and they got it off the hose. The hose I used is a powercraft and the # is 71037. It was $20. It actually goes directly into the 90 degree fitting in the back of a saginaw pump. You don't need the adapter fitting that you would use with your stock hoses.I just loosened that bolt the fitting uses to attach itself to the pump and moved it so it faced straight up.Then, I was able to look at the pics. from swoods site and re-route my HP hose line. Hope this helps someone else.
