Power Sterring Box lines

Which line is the supply and return on a stock 77 steering box? Thanks

Every single power steering box I have seen is the same way. With good reason.
The pressure is the forward fitting, closest to the pitman arm.
The return is the rear fitting, closest to the steering wheel.
Why? If (when) there is a little leakage past the internal seals the fluid will simply bleed to the return and not to the seal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the smaller diameter line is always the pressure and larger diameter is always the return...

I thought they were different sizes so you could not make this mistake.

Different sizes so the line workers can't slap it together wrong. Things get exciting when they get reversed. And when you make your own lines that is possible.

Some steering boxes the smaller one is the feed, but I won't say all of them. There are a few that have matching fittings, I found this when I reversed the hoses once. And I recalling hearing of at least one box where the large port is the feed.

yep they are different sizes but installing HB and making up my own lines. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks!
