I made it without incident from Arlington to Texarkana, TX with no issues. I have the only Bronco among over 1,000 Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, some cool hot rods, an a little bit of everything else. I am getting tons of compliments on the Bronco with the main one being "what year is it?" I'm sure some of the Corvette guys are turning their noses ate me, but most everyone is great especially the Mustang drivers.

I had one guy tell me a story from when he was in high school his dad had him go from Dallas to College Station, TX, about 200 miles to pickup a trailer, with his 71 Bronco. The trailer was was a goose-neck. The guy welded a hitch to the back of the Bronco. There was so much weight behind the axle that there was almost no response to the steering, not to mention how over loaded it was. He said about 20 miles from Dallas the Bronco let loose of one of the pistons.

It is a great adventure, I'll post some more later. The pic is from a lunch stop with a Maverick and a Shelby Mustang. You can see more pictures on my FB page, stuart r. smith in Darien CT.

Very cool! Your Bronco is definitely a great example and represents us all very well. Don't mind the Corvette guys. Just have a great time... and post more pics!

I will be working the Little Rock and Memphis legs. Come by and see me. I'll be the guy with Hawks and Eagles in a Park Ranger uniform. Be sure and do the Pass Port ride in Memphis and have your pic taken with a Bald Eagle.

I had a couple of old Corvettes and now I have a Bronco, some of those NCRA guys will thumb their nose up at anything including other Corvettes.

I was there yesterday. Found your Bronco and talked to the owner of the Maverick. I was surprised to see as many cars as I did. It was quite the spectacle

End of Power Tour, Stop at Duff's and heading home

Power Tour was great. I got to meet Steve Smith in Memphis, but I had to bail on the tour to head home. Just outside Knoxville the Bronco was sputtering around 50-60 mph. When I stopped for gas it was leaking fuel. I pushed on to Duff's to buy a few things and to make the repairs. When the rain came Jim helped me push her in the shop and helped me put some Teflon tape on the fitting. It started up and no leaks!

I felt like this was fantasy time, having James Duff helping wrench on my Bronco. I could have stayed longer, but at 6:15 I knew they wanted to get home. I picked up a few more parts after Jim mentioned my lack of fan shroud. I got the whole tour and some great stories, Jim is a great guy and a real legend when it comes to the history of Broncos.

And now the rest of the story...on the other side of Knoxville the Bronco became sluggish again, it was leaking again. :-[ With all the bolts loosened from my time at Duff's, the new power steering pump (thanks Advance Auto) works great, with no leaks. So tomorrow I have 700 miles to get home.

Thanks again to everyone at Duff's; Denver, Susie, Jim, and Mrs. Duff!

When I get home I'll upload all my Power Tour Pix to a Flicker page and share the link here. In the pix are Jim Duff, Courtney Hansen from Power Block, David Freiburger editor of Hot Rod, a dying Bronco in Arkansas, and a pic at the Horse Barn with my father-in-law and son.

Fellow Lone Bronco

A few weeks ago my wife and I went to the Wisconsin Dells for their Automotion Car Show weekend. We took our 73 Bronco and had so many people pointing and waving and asking questions about my Bronco it was crazy. We saw at least 2 Lamborghienis(?) that got there share of attention but there sure seemed to be alot of Bronco fans there too. I took alot of pride in representing the Bronco culture we love and I hope I sparked some interest for those that would like to join such a great group of people.

Duff's

I forgot the pic of Jim Duff. The pic of the General Lee is crossing the Mississippi into Memphis.
