Q on column swap

I recently swapped the auto column in my '74 to a tilt from a '79 van. Welded on the old mount and got it in place. The problem is that no matter how I try to adjust the linkage I cant get the thing to shift smoothly. The linkage seems to bind especially from D on down. For those that have done this swap are there any linkage tricks I need to know??? Or should I be using a different linkage? I'm currently using the EB linkage. Getting a little frustrated......

Never done that swap, don't know an easy fix. Can you see anything binding when you cycle it? Do the shift pointer and detents line up? Are you overstroking the linkage to the point that the arm is nearly parrell to the pull of the linkage?
