Question for the driveshaft guru's (spline coating)

Pulled the driveshafts apart today to check the splines and noticed the blue coating Spicer put on has all but dissapeared.
Is this a problem ? Almost looks like some kind of rubberized compound. Would a coat of POR help ? I would think this factory coating would help the splines slide correct ?
