I assume this means I need a new voltage regulator? Is this a pretty easy switch? Appreciate any thoughts.

What makes you think it is the voltage regulator? Have you checked the output voltage while revving the engine? Unless it is spiking really high I don't see it affecting the radio. What radio are you running?

what makes me think is that I'm not any good with electrical stuff at all and I'm just guessing;)

It's an aftermarket Sony stereo, and it works fine at idle, then cuts out when I rev the engine, I assumed it was getting some sort of spike causing it to shut down. It comes right back on if I take the car out of gear and coast in neutral.

I would suggest checking the voltage at the battery while revving the engine and report back. If it is climbing up to 16+ volts then I can see it being an issue. You could also have a wiring problem between the regulator and the alternator but it could also be completely unrelated to the alternator or regulator. You will need to do a little testing to narrow it down a bit.

How is your grounding scheme in the Bronco? Particularly the body ground.

I remember a thread from years ago where this guy was working on his Bronco and listening to the radio. The radio cut out when he pulled the front driveshaft...

Check your grounds...
