Took the bronco to a rally race yesterday. They said I failed tech inspection and I could not participate. Something about the rules and needing permission from SCCA to let the vehicle on their course and their insurance coverage. I need a windshield, a top , doors, and windows or at least a net.
Well I didn't get upset, I hung around and watched for a few hours. I watched the mazdas, the WRX's , volvos, VW's ect. and any other car that wanted to run go around the course. It had rained the night before and it did not take long to for the track to turn to mud. I saw a rented Nissan Versa? hit a bump and lose both inner fender wells. It was becoming fun to watch. I had a good seat with some shade and I sat in the group of people watching and waiting for their turn to run. One guy had an SCCA official looking shirt on. I asked him what he was running. He said "the rally cat" Turns out he is running an AWD 2015 Escalade. WTF? I said I thought they did not like big trucks. He said "tough" I can run it. He asked what I was running and I told him the situation. He said lets go look at it. We did, he looked it all over and asked lots of questions. Tube size and thickness, options that came stock, ECT. He said " this truck is stronger and safer and more equipped to race than anything out here." When I told him that the roadster options cam without doors and tops and had fold down windows he started to smile. He then told me he could get me racing. he said you add arm restraints and I think I can get you racing. He took my contact info and told me he would be in touch with me. Turns out he is part of the SCCA organization and is willing to help me. So who knows. I do know that with the track they were running I could of killed it.
