Rarest Bronco?

Lots of ways to think about this as some of you have hinted at. Rarest by model, like a 68 U13 is among that figure. Then rarest by options - I recently saw a black 77 Ranger with Avocado green interior....gotta be few of those. Then there's rare by history, like the Balloon Chase Ambulance which started life as a regular Ranger off the assembly line. I also have a first week of 68 production Bronco sold new at Ken Roggy Ford (huge west coast Bronco dealer at the time), and competed in every Baja race starting with the first in 1967 and doing all of them thru 77. It's rare among surviving vehicles that completed the very first Baja 1000 in 67. Plus I don't think another Bronco competed in all the Baja races 67-77. So. Lots of different "rare".

Well said! X2!

I always wonder what happened to the other Bronco that was on the chase with the ambulance. It would be a rare find too.

There have been some Gold Rush and Northlander Special Broncos pop up lately. I'd say those are pretty rare finds. Does anyone know of an original "Macho Bronco"?

We have a Raven Black '77 Special Decor. I need to get a Marti Report and find out how rare it is.

Lots of different rares and depends what the buyer wants. I bet most Broncophiles would throw down that a Stroppe or U13 would top the lists. The problem is, is rare equal to value? Probably not. The oldest rarest U13's are not bringing in anything close to a well built restomod to modern conveniences. Look to the Icon vehicle as proof.

Unfortunetly not a production vehicle and I dont believe it survived much past the Autoshow but the bronco sportsman dune buster would be a rare one.
I kinda agree its hard to single out rarity as it depends on the person. As was said u13 doesnt mean a lot to most of the bronco world in terms of being rare or sought after. While there are a few people really seek them out. Unlike Stroppes where if you knew were there was one for cheap most of us would jump on it.
Denver editions well they were just a dealer thing not really a production model either and would be worth more to a denver fan than most of us.

I would probably put the military broncos up high on the list since there are so few out there.

All have there niche and value is to the person that actually wants them some are just more wanted than others. Yes some are more rare and maybe time will tell if it becomes more valuable.

I have a 72 U14. People here tell me it's rare because it's the last year of the halfcab.

Ok its rare.;)
I like the half cabs but I could care less if it was a orginal u14 or just a converted half cab. The u14 doesnt make it any more valuable to me. Now on the other hand. You can actually say its a U14 so that fact has merit. Find that diehard collector and yes the value goes up.

This one was pretty rare.
When it was in my possession it had racked up a grand total of 1776 miles.

I think there were fewer of the Denver's than the 1968 roadster.

Close, but not quite. Per Kevin Marti's Ford documents:
1975 Denver Bronco Special - 214
1968 U13 Roadster - 212

You can narrow it down by options too if you want,
but remember all of the 1975's had a V8, but you could have had
two different transmissions. The 1968 was the exact opposite.
You only had one transmission option, but two different engines... ;)

I like pictures and Chad started it with the special Special Décor. These pictures are not glamour shots but one of 199 units. A "N" code '67 U13. The "N" designates the 289 V-8!
