I've been toying with the idea of building my 76 with the rat rod look. I'm leaning towards either a flat black paint job or just going with primer. For the frame, what do you guys think, black or red?

Just curious what everyone thinks.

Thanks,

John

John Deer Black tractor paint. It has some texture to it, is easy to spray with just about anything, and tougher than most other paints I can think of. You could use it on the chassis and/or body if you wanted to. It's much easier to maintain than a pure flat paint (or primer/sealer) IMO.

Red is a great color for a rat rod Bronco frame! Then go flat black on the body with gloss red pinstriping. And, of course, Mexican blanket upholstery.

I think the red frame will contrast great with a black epoxy primer finish, and some red pinstripes would set it off!! I like that idea a lot, don't be a Collier popping poser and paint it a "safe" black................how gay!! :-X ;D ;D ;D

That was exactly what I am planning on doing for the seats. lol.

I got the idea of the painting the frame red from looking at my dad's 8n ford tractor. I may try my hand at doing "true fire" on it. I've never done anything like that, but I think if I could get it halfway decent it would look great.
