Has anyone built a bronco rat rod? I was watching the Five Finger Deathpunch video of "House of the Rising Sun". There is an early 60's caddy (I think that's what it was) on a 4x4 chassis rat rod. It made me think if anyone has seen or built a rat bronco. Any pics?

Hard to know what a rat rod is any more. This might count.

Technically isn't a rat rod a vehicle put together with pieces and parts from other vehicles you happen to have at hand? If so, I bet about half of the guys on this board are guilty! ;D

I am sure its been done. And I think the one above is a rat rod and pretty cool. I would not do it my self, but think its cool, as long as it still has a ford motor in it!;)

Good one Fatboy! I'm not saying take a nicer one and rat it out but take one that has been sitting in the field for ..... A long time , forgotten about , a rusty hulk, and one of us bronco lovers finds it and resurrects it. Not new fenders, seat covers, etc, like that,
But a bronco that could be in a Mad Max movie.

I dunno, I hear Rat Rod and I think clear coated rust, errr sorry "Patina", signs for floor pans, Mexican blanket upholstery, typically steelies or wire spokes, whitewalls, kegs for gas tanks, chop tops, etc, etc, etc.

To each his or her own but I don't see the point in TRYING to make something look homemade or patched together. With that being said, I have seen some that I thought were bada**. But then again, I guess no one asked me either :)

Sorry OP, to answer your original question, I have never seen a rat rod EB at a car show or magazine or anywhere.

Exactly smokinjoe. Don't TRY to make one look that way. Take one thats basically dead, either part it out or spend thousands on it type of bronco, Frankenstien it back together with what ever you can cut, torch, weld, Mexican blanket, keg tank, stop sign, rail road xing sign patch panels, what ever will work and look cool in the process. No clear coat. Straight outta the field and on to the street , or dirt.... Not just thrown together either.

I personally like those kind of vehicles, Mad Max-ish. Just never seen a bronco.

Well we do have a true Bronco Brother among us that used a lot of "laying around parts", his smarts, and maybe some alcohol!!!!
It's a very hard working EB !!!! With a lot of character!!!! Hope he doesn't mind me posting!!!;D;D;D

Hey Bill has the island queen, does that count?

I wouldn't think so...and I'm not sure the flathead V-8 powered Bronco I'm building qualifies as a "rat rod" either...

Ohhh I love rat rods. If my Bronco wasn't so well preserved I might have been tempted to rat it out. Not just slap some crap on it and let it rust. There are some seriously creative metal artists who have made amazing cars.

I like that halfcab. I would do a drag bronco out of it if that was mine.
Not all ratrods are thrown together junk either.
