Paul, the et caps came from the guy I bought them from. they didn't really fit well he just included them and lugs with all the wheels he sold. at the time he had a bunch of different wheels on ebay and all of them had the et center caps which aren't really et, they are just cheap plastic centers with et stickers.lol he also lied to me about the center hole and now I have to get them enlarged a bit. but now I have a spare to hang on the back all I have to do is find a matching 15x36 fun country to go on it. lol. but as far as I have been able to discover, Hands/DG/PJ were the only three that made them. the hands wheels are about $1500 a set of 4 and I haven't seen any like mine for sale in a set. keep yall's eyes open for more for me and some 15x36 fun country's!!:)

those who were wondering the wheels are 15x8.5

Well... It's time to 'spill the beans'. Rattler really does have several K bar S components, but the lettering is not original to the truck. I'm sorry, there is not a great story behind the find. Yes, I found it in a barn. The owner, whom I knew was deceased and the sons and widow wanted to sale three Broncos. One was incredibly rough, one had had a bunch of money spent on it and therefore, they wanted a bunch for it. We found common ground on the little ugly white Bronco, and I brought 'Rattler' to our ranch.

Rattler had a few issues that was resolved and with the top loader transmission, it quickly became a very fun driver. It needed new tires, front and rear axles were worn out, so a disc brake front was built and installed, and a big bearing rear was built and installed. The home built tubing front and rear bumpers were exchanged for a nice, unmolested Warn winch and bumper, and an original paint Wimbledon White rear. Rattler was so much fun just to drive that he almost scored a ticket to the Super Celebration in 2016.

While at the looking at all the beautiful Broncos there in Townsend, I noticed myself walking past flawless rolling works of Bronco art composed of new Chinese components, new power plants, and big wheels..... walked right on past them, headed over to a rust fringed original relic of FoMoCo! Maybe it was an original owner or a brand new owner, but the original looking Bronco had a 'soul' that the shine and glitter didn't have!

There, I began to conceive this notion in my head of sanding off the hideous white repaint on Rattler, just sanding back to the original Sea Pine Green, lettering it with the K bar S graphics and clearing it all with matte clear. Unfortunately, some previous owner had sprayed a black sealer over the green that tinted it ten shades darker (primer too) and it looked terrible. So, with the sanding already started, the only thing left was to strip and repaint Rattler. I still wanted 'original' looking paint, not a mile deep looking clear with radiating brilliance. The paint job that happened is much harder to accomplish than the ultimately shiney new paint job, but also a lot more fun.

With the comments and many PM's on Rattler, I feel he's a success by looking original! One guy commented the other day, 'That ole Bronco would be a easy one to put a 'purty' paint job on!'....I just grinned and agreed......

I'll post up a few pictures of the process soon.....

that's awesome fordfan had me fooled!!!! I too like the look of old school. I left my broncos paint the way it was when I got it. left the 80's diamond tuck vinyl and pit only 70's, 80's and early 90's mods on it. I wanted it to look like somone bought it new in 77 and about 81 or 82 took it to a 4x4 shop and said do it up. I custom made the light bar to look period correct, sourced some original fun country's, sourced a late 80's alpine deck, the 5 speed is from an 89 ford truck, Deano on here gave me an original Blue Kayline soft top with matching boot to store it in while folded down. the only thing that could not habe come from the 80's id the front dress, that is off a 2001 explorer but looks factory under the hood. it also has a mustang dual snorkel air cleaner on top of the carb. The lift is Rancho and has the old strickered rancho hsocks on it so it all looks period correct. I got several compliments on it and comments like "man I wouldnt even fix this scratch or that crack in the fender flare" and I am not. I enjoy driving it every day I can if it gets a scratch then no harm done. lol

John Karp and Hal Sealund began business in December of 1967 after working together at a Ford dealership in the San Diego area. James Duff also began business in 1967 and Bill Stroppe ,a little later, took the 'performance' Bronco market a step further using the methods developed by K bar S and Duff. James told me a couple of years ago, when we were talking at the Super Celebration, that he was responsible for the Stroppe steering wheel and he found a company in Canada that could produce it. It's just cool how they all seemed to work together!

Heres a cool pic from back in the early days of the Bronco and the aftermarket. 1966.

Dennis, is this the Bronco that helped prefect the exhaust kit?

Great story and pics!!! I like that door hanging, hood holding roll around cart!!! I may need one of those!!!;D;D;D

It's handy. It makes the doors much easier to spray without the hassle of a tape line... Kinda like Ford did except I put paint on the door post behind the hinges.;) I've heard that 'no job is hard if you have the right tool'.... I believe that is partly true!;D;D

Great story. I appreciate the fact that you went the extra mile to make it look as it should, a nice Bronco that is used with some old school ties.

Thanks!.. I guess I'm getting old.. Somehow 'old school' appeals to me now.
