Hi Guys,

I'm considering a pair of rear dual air shocks to level out my 66.

It sits perfect with the bikini top, no spare, no rear seats but now with a hard top it's a little low.

I'm running a rear sway bar so I'm not sure if the stock style mounts will work.

Can someone post a few pics of the rear dual shocks installed with stock style mounts?

Thanks and Happy New Year!
Chris

Are you thinking of air shocks, or something similar? How would dual standard shocks level anything?

A while back someone was asking how to level out their Bronco and another someone here in SoCal mentioned he was running a dual set of shocks that were air shocks.

The idea is simple, heavy loaded rig, add some air to lift up the rear. I've got new springs and shocks on all 4 corners but with it loaded up it levels out and almost wants to sag.

If I do it I'd like to run the stock style rear mounts, I'd want to keep it simple.

Anyone? I just need to see if the lower bracket will fit with my rear sway bar.

Well you have a '66. That causes some issues. The normal dual rear shock brackets are for the '67-77. I don't know of anyone who makes a kit for the odd '66.

You would probably end up with the rear overdamped, ride too harsh. They do make airsprings that just add to the spring without affecting the damping. That would probably be a better avenue to persue then trying to add air shocks.

If your '66 is a late model though, you might have the later style mount. Do your rear shocks have eyes at the top, or studs?

Sorry Chris. Mine are still in the box, so I can't take a shot of them installed. Have you gone to the Duff or Wild Horses sites to see if they have a good pic of one?
Is your anti-swaybar a stock one?

Hi Paul,
My rear sway bar isn't stock, it's an addco. By the way, I love my front [stock] and rear sway bars. I'm not sure if the extra rear shock mount will fit with my rear disc brakes or rear sway bar so i thought I'd ask around before I buy anything. Good luck with your install and have a good weekend!

I have dual shock mounts and use air shocks on the rear mounts. I had used the air shocks along with a pair of Toms shocks on the front mounts but it was too harsh. I removed the set in the front and the air shocks do fine on their own. They are Gabriel Hi-jackers and came from a guy on Ebay who sells shocks by the length rather than by application. I just measured the Toms shocks and ordered air shocks to match.

Hey Blubuckaroo,

I think it was you who first planted this evil seed in my head. It's a good idea, so you thought running dual rear was too ruff? How much were the air shocks? I was think of dual but don't know if duals will clear my rear disc or sway bar.

Thanks for the info and pics!
Chris

PS Can you tell me the ebay seller's name?
